Welcome to another edition of AI Cohort. As artificial intelligence rapidly advances, it’s essential to remain updated on the latest innovations, challenges. Imagine if AI brings human-like quality of the touch sensing technology, in this edition we explore Meta’s Sparsh and other most notable AI releases, launches, innovations and breakthroughs.

Touching the Future: Meta's Sparsh Brings Human-Like Tactile Sensing to Robots

Meta AI has recently unveiled a groundbreaking technology called Sparsh, which represents a significant advancement in robotic touch sensing and perception. Sparsh is the first general-purpose encoder for vision-based tactile sensing. The name comes from the Sanskrit word for "touch" or "contact sensory experience". It's designed to give robots and AI systems a more human-like sense of touch.

Sparsh works across many types of vision-based tactile sensors and tasks. Unlike previous approaches that required task-specific labeled data, Sparsh uses self-supervised learning techniques to avoid the need for extensive labeling.

From Chatbot to Search Wizard: ChatGPT's Latest Upgrade Redefines Information Retrieval"

OpenAI rolls out ChatGPT Search, redefines information retrieval! Imagine asking your smartest friend about today's headlines, only this friend has instant access to the entire internet and never gets tired of your questions. That's ChatGPT Search in a nutshell. OpenAI has taken its already impressive language model and given it the keys to the information superhighway!

AMD's Ryzen AI 300 Series Outshines Intel in LLM Performance

AMD's Ryzen AI 9 HX 375 outperforms Intel's Core Ultra 7 258V by up to 27% in LLM performance. In LM Studio, a development environment for LLMs, the Strix Point APU showed significantly higher performance.

AMD claims up to 3.5 times lower latency compared to Intel's offering, particularly notable in the Mistral Nemo 2407 12b Instruct model.

Meta's GPU Cluster the Largest in AI Training for Llama 4

Mark Zuckerberg stated that Meta is training its Llama 4 models on a GPU cluster "bigger than 100,000 H100s" and "bigger than anything that I've seen reported for what others are doing". The statement appears to be a direct reference to Elon Musk's xAI startup, which reportedly has a cluster of 100,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs.

This announcement highlights the ongoing race among tech giants like Meta, Microsoft, Google, and Musk's xAI to develop advanced AI models and acquire powerful computing resources

AI leads Python to top language

Python has emerged as the leading programming language for artificial intelligence and machine learning applications, which is helping solidify its position as one of the world's most popular programming languages overall.

While AI tools may make it easier to generate code in various languages, Python's strong position in the AI/ML space is likely to keep it at the forefront of programming languages for the foreseeable future. The synergy between Python and AI is mutually reinforcing, with each driving the growth and adoption of the other.

Counting the Offenders: The Impact of AI Speed Cameras in Stoke-on-Trent

Since the installation of new 'smart' AI cameras on some of Stoke-on-Trent's busiest roads, hundreds of drivers have been caught speeding. These AI speed cameras have been strategically placed throughout Staffordshire to enhance road safety on high-traffic routes. Equipped with advanced digital technology, these cameras leverage artificial intelligence to identify and flag dangerous driving behaviors, ensuring that lawbreakers are held accountable. With their ability to monitor traffic in real-time, these AI cameras are not just a technological upgrade; they represent a significant leap towards safer roads for everyone.
